This pencil drwawing really stands on its own, especially for the time frame in which it was created. I suppose it has elements of the squirming 'teeth/eye/claw' images, but something more cartoony and bizarre is going on here.

This drawing was done on the fly, elements added as I was going, more and more tubes intertwined to complexify the design. As the drawing progressed, details were added to give each tube a 'personality' and small elements were interspersed to add depth and motion to the illustration.

Really this is the only drawing of its kind, and further attempts to work on variations were not successful. I just couldn't capture whatever it is that is goin on in this piece. It has always been one of my favorites, and I have an ongoing large scale finished drawing of it that is in the beginning stages, and will most probably be scanned into the computer for some color variations.
