This illustration is one of an ongoing series of images based on psychedelic poster style illustrations and designs. Most of the pieces include an eye as the central design element, and all works have their inspiration in Mayan, Aztec and Egpytian heiroglyphic art. The illustrations revolve around a loose language of design elements including spirals, flames, bone-like structures, engine and machine parts, and usually employ a symmetrical design. This illustration in particular obviously focuses on an eye surrounded by flames. Teeth-like and other organic elements are offset by more mechanical or machined elements. This illustration was originally drawn and inked on paper, then later scanned and colored in Adobe Illustrator. |
