This
illustration is one of a series of pieces, mostly sketches, that
employed an abstract psychedelic explosion of design elements
I had been creating and collecting into a sort of visual language.
The
structure was simple: create an enigmatic collection of shapes,
then draw another set of shapes and lines surrounding the original
which made the design less interesting. Next step, add another
set of enveloping lines and shapes to re-establish harmony. Repeat
until the paper is filled. Some people call this 'doodling', however
I found it a liberating way to explore the design elements I had
been assembling in a way which gve me feedback as to how these
shapes worked together.
They
are also fun to work on and are quite engagin to explore when
finished.
