Another
charcoal drawing exploring a fascination with the structural elegance
of skulls, skeletons and bones. Eyes seem to fine a place in most
of my representational work. This piece also includes other design
elements that were used as a sort of language for a period of
time in many drawings, sketches and illustrations: bones, eyes,
and claws.
These
were intended to be slightly unsettling, giving the viewer a sense
of a non-human intelligence looking back. The use of familiar
human bones shapes and curves, the symmetrical design and the
organic handling of the charcoal offer a sense of familiarity,
yet presented in an incongruous manner.
