The
Blind Skull charcoal drawing is part of a short series I worked
on exploring my fascination with bones and skeketons. The series
began as a multitude of pen and ink sketches of skull type objects
from some sort of alien or unknown creature.
A
short series of small acrylic on canvas paintings were done in
a very rough style, using sticks and used toothbrushes for an
aggressive effect. As the paintings progressed and more sketches
were completed, a desire to create an elegant skull manifested.
After a few initial charcoal drawings, this version proved to
be the most successful. This has always been one of my favorite
pieces.
